Welcome to Term 4…and WOW how quickly is this term disappearing!! This is an extremely busy term here at Cairney School. Below is a list of continuing and upcoming events.
WILD THINGS
As you know we have secured a six week block of workshops with Wild Things starting on Monday 12th May and they will take place up at Glass School. The workshops will be every Monday morning for six weeks. Wellies and waterproofs are required as some activities will take place in shallow water. However, a sunhat and suncream are also required in case this lovely weather continues. Can I ask no food containing nuts, strawberries or raspberries are taken to Glass School at these workshops as there is someone who is highly allergic to these foods at Glass School.
SPANISH
I’m sure the children have been telling you all about their Spanish lessons. Mr Folgado from The Gordon Schools has kindly given us a four week block of one hour lessons as a taster into Spanish.
DRUMFUN
We have been fortunate enough to book a ten week block of sessions with Drumfun. The children really enjoy this activity because they have lots of fun whilst learning different skills.
P7’S TRANSITION WORKSHOP
Our P7’s will be attending a transition workshop on Wed 21st May at The Gordon Schools. Parents have to transport children to and from the secondary.
SPORTS DAY
Sports day will take place on Tue 27th May starting at 1.30pm here at Cairney School. Glass School will be joining us this year to add to the fun 😊
GREENMYRES BIKE VISIT
Greenmyers Outdoor Centre will be visiting our school on Fri 30th May and Fri 13th June at 1pm. They are coming to give our children a talk on bike safety and advice on how to ride a bike. If your child/children has a bike and helmet could you bring them to school on the above dates please. If your child/children don’t have one or both of the items can you let us know as soon as possible as Greenmyers will hopefully be able to source bikes/helmets but they are limited resources so taking their own ones will be extremely helpful.
FEDDERATE WOODS
Our end of year trip this year will be to Fedderate Woods near Maud. The activities will include Fairy Finding, Orienteering, The Explorer Woods and a Forest playpark. It takes place on Fri 20th June and packed lunches will be required. I will send home permission forms and school packed lunch forms with the children this week for you to complete and return. School jumpers will be required to be worn along with sun hats, suncream (hopefully) but with waterproofs on standby!!
P7 TRANSITION WEEK
P7 transition week will be from Mon 23rd June to Fri 27th June inclusive.
PARENTS TRANSITION MEETING
There will be a transition meeting for parents on Thu 26th June at 7pm at The Gordon Schools.
PRIZEGIVING
Prizegiving will take place on Tue 1st July at 2pm. We look forward to seeing you all there.
OUTDOOR FUN WITH GLASS SCHOOL
As a last hurrah in the last week of term we will be having a ‘wet outdoor play afternoon’ on Wed 2nd July. We have invited Glass School to come and join in the fun. If you could send in a change of clothes, towel and hairbrush with the children on that day that would be fantastic and will save anyone having a soggy bottom on the way home 😊.
