About Us
Cairney Primary School is a small, close-knit rural school in Aberdeenshire, nestled within a community deeply connected to its environment. With 23 pupils spanning across all primary levels, the school fosters a strong sense of belonging, ensuring that every child is nurtured, supported, and empowered to thrive.
A cornerstone of Cairney’s approach is outdoor learning, where pupils engage with nature to develop key life skills, enhance their understanding of the world around them, and build resilience. Whether exploring local landscapes, collaborating on environmental projects, or incorporating play-based learning into daily experiences, Cairney Primary encourages curiosity, independence, and confidence in its learners.
At the heart of the school is a commitment to inclusivity and partnership, with parents, carers, and the wider community playing an integral role in shaping the educational experience. Through strong relationships, creative initiatives, and collaborative efforts, Cairney Primary ensures that its pupils not only succeed academically but also grow into thoughtful, capable individuals equipped with a deep appreciation for their surroundings and their place within the world.
Cairney Primary School is supported by a Headteacher, Principal Teacher and Class Teacher, PSAs as well as Admin staff.
